"Dyeing for Paris" now at Trumbull Art Gallery through September 18, 2026!
Ceramics, 18"x14"x14" (main body), 2026.
This piece started as a dream I had. In the dream, I saw a pile of these roundish forms, huddled together in a mass. I really enjoy playing with texture; the texture on each individual form came from one of the forms in That's Like, Totally Tubular! I kept making them and piling them on top of each other until it seemed a good size. And then one piece fell off of the table and cracked. It felt like it was meant to be that way, so I simply cleaned it up a little and glazed it as it was, cracks and all. In fact, I think it really adds something -- to me the little broken shell says, "I was once a part of you, and I have left, but my scars remain."
